Heather Dickson

Heather Dickson, founder of Dickson Designs, is Inland Tlingit & Tagish from Carcross Tagish First Nation and Nuxalk from Bella Coola, BC. Raised in the Yukon and trained at the International Arts Institute of Vancouver, her foundation in fashion began much earlier—learning beadwork and traditional sewing from Northern women.

Heather blends traditional and modern techniques, creating work rooted in cultural identity while embracing contemporary design. Her beadwork carries stories of land, animals, and ancestors. Deeply connected to her heritage, Heather is passionate about sharing her culture, giving back to community, and teaching her son Nashton the roots that inspire her craft.

"I walk in two worlds—thriving in the modern while rooted in culture. That balance guides my collaboration with Manitobah, inspired by Carcross Tagish and Nuxalk designs. Traditional beadwork meets modern aesthetics through seaweed motifs, 'Bella Coola Blue,' and turquoise, honoring both inland and coastal roots. The Black boot reflects city life; the Oak celebrates land-based traditions. I hope this collection helps you feel seen in your own balance, and proud in both worlds."
