SMUDGE THE BLADES
Harlan Kingfisher, from Sturgeon Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan, is the founder and CEO of Smudge The Blades — the first Indigenous hockey clothing brand built on culture, community, and representation. Since launching in 2020, the brand has been featured by CTV, APTN, Global News, and the NHL, becoming a powerful voice for Indigenous visibility in hockey.
Through Smudge The Blades, Harlan advocates for Indigenous athletes, challenges racism in sport, and reinvests into Indigenous communities by helping youth access hockey through equipment and fee support. The brand has earned recognition through Pow Wow Pitch, Bears’ Lair, and TikTok’s Indigenous Visionary Voices program, while continuing to inspire the next generation on and off the ice.
